“Café Scientifique” provides a framework for the general public to engage in informal and accessible discussions on current scientific issues. These “cafés scientifiques” are part of a series of debates on “Sustainable Cities”, organised by the British Council and La Casa Encendida, which this year are focusing on the impact Covid-19 is having on cities.

Rosa Jiménez, promoter of the project “La Escalera”. Under the slogan "Life is a shared problem, can we tackle it communally?", this initiative promotes support and collaboration among neighbours living in blocks of flats. With a wealth of experience in the field of social innovation, Rosa Jiménez also manages the experimentation and intergenerational learning programme From 0 to 99 run by Medialab Prado; she contributes towards the design and implementation of participative projects such as “Preventing unwanted solitude”, a pilot programme organised by the Madrid municipal health service; and has designed community arts projects such as “This used to be a neighbourhood"
Jon Chamberlain, professor and researcher of applied science at the University of Essex, England. He's an active member of the Language and Computation (LAC) research group at the University of Essex, which covers a diverse range of disciplines including linguistics, computer science, information retrieval, social media analysis, psychology etc. He has been a reviewer and editor for several publications, including Associate Editor for the journal "Human Computation" and is on the programme committee for workshops, including PlayIT (WWW2011), Disco2013, GCI2012 and GamifIR 2014. He was co-chair of the Games4NLP workshop that was part of the LREC conference in Japan 2018.
