Wells takes its inventor to the year 802701 to contemplate a totally changed London, inhabited by a degenerate human race (Eloi) quite weak and fearful product of uncontrolled scientific progress, a race in decline.
Influenced by utopian socialism, Wells makes in this work a lucid satire of the capitalist society of his time, in addition to transferring his scientific concerns and proposing a fully current reflection on the responsibility of the human being with respect to the future.
You never know if what seems idyllic at first can turn apocalyptic.
