Coinciding with Europe Day, the network of European cultural institutes EUNIC Madrid is glad to collaborate another year with the Public Reading Services of the Community of Madrid (Public Libraries) to present its European Reading Corners project.
The initiative, which aims to promote high quality European literature in the region’s reading centres, is supported by EUNIC’s network of cultural institutes located in Madrid. These include the British Council; the Alliance Française; the Czech Centre; the Goethe Institut; the Institut Français; the Romanian Cultural Institute; the Finnish Ibero-American Institute; the Istituto Italiano di Cultura and the Embassy of Portugal in Spain.
Thanks to its collaboration with the Public Reading Services of the Community of Madrid, this year they will present a selection of books to familiarise Madrid’s readers with the latest European literary trends. This edition will include works by some of the most promising voices in today’s British literature such as Jessie Burton, Sara Collins, Rachel Cusk, Tom Gauld or Caitlin Moran.
As from May 9th, Europe Day, the Reading Corners will be available in 10 of the capital’s public libraries: BP Carabanchel ‘Luis Rosales’; BP Chamberí ‘José Luis Sampedro’; BP Centro ‘Pedro Salinas’; BP Fuencarral ‘Rafael Alberti’; BP Latina ‘Antonio Mingote’; BP Retiro ‘Elena Fortún’; BP Usera ‘José Hierro’; BP Puente de Vallecas ‘Miguel Hernández’; BP Villa de Vallecas ‘Luis Martín Santos’ and BP Villaverde ‘María Moliner’.
