The Nutcracker is without a doubt one of Tchaikovsky’s best-known works. Closely linked to Christmas, it has been one of the most-performed works all over the world since it was premiered in 1892 at the Mariinsky theatre in Saint Petersburg with a script by Marius Petipa, inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s tale. This version by Peter Wright, in which magic shrouds the whole production with a Christmas tree that constantly grows before our very eyes, wooden soldiers that come to life and a journey into the land of sweets, will charm the whole family.
