Mark your calendars: the XIX edition of Hay Festival Segovia is right around the corner. On 12 to 15 September, the historic Castillian city will host, once again, the best of the literature sector with a diverse programme in which British culture will also be present.

This year, the festival will host British author Eley Williams, selected as one of the Best Young British Novelists 2023 by Granta. On 13 September at 12:00 h, Eley will talk about her first novel, The Liar's Dictionary, among other topics with Cristina Ward, Head of Arts at British Council Spain. The Liar's Dictionary combines the love for words with romantic stories; the quest for oneself and the act of uncovering the truth. It has been published in Spanish by the publishing house Sexto Piso.

British artist James Massiah's music will take the stage during a DJ set on 12 September at 20:30 h during the Hay Festival Youth Party, a celebration for IE University students in Segovia, which will be open to the general public through ticket purchasing. Massiah's poetry will also have its moment on 13 September at 20:30 h during a live reading. His work is known for exploring topics such as sexuality, mortality or hedonism. In the last few years, Massiah has become one of the most  sought after DJs in London's underground movement.

On Saturday 14 September at 12:00h, don't miss the British Council School Orchestra, formed by British Council School (Madrid) students, teachers and alumni. The show will be a guaranteed journey through European music, from the Baroque period to our times.

The festival will also welcome Giles Tremlett, British historian and correspondent for The Guardian, on 14 September at 13:30 h. Tremlett will share the stage with journalist Anna Bosch and the British Embassy in Spain's Cultural Attachéé, Debbi Christophers, to talk about the undeniable and continuous relationship between Spain and the UK.

And, if you are one to go down memory lane, we suggest attending A Return to Robert Graves: His letters and writings, a live reading at the Jardín Romeral de San Marcos on 14 September at 10:00 h.
