The British director Ken Loach will be visiting Barcelona during the season of his films that Filmoteca de Catalunya is organising in partnership with the British Council. Further to Loach’s talk at the Spanish Film Academy in Madrid in February last year (you can watch the Facebook Live broadcast of the event here) this time a Catalan audience will have the opportunity to hear first-hand about the principal themes in his works.

There are two major aspects that characterize Ken Loach’s films: the social conscience of their main characters and scripts that strive to achieve proximity between realism and its depiction on the screen. Whether past or present, in the United Kingdom, Spain, the United States or Nicaragua, his stories always focus on the disadvantaged and particularly those who struggle for recognition of their dignity.
