Once again the British Council is happy to collaborate with 360 VR Market Barcelona within the framework of its Future intelligence program that explores current trends and the impact of the implementation of advanced technologies such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence in the field of arts and the creativity.
In this edition, the public will be able to enjoy in person a selection of the best virtual reality experiences produced in the United Kingdom over the last 20 years with Immersive Arcade, an initiative of Digital Catapult and Audience of the Future. The 12 works of this compilation are produced by the most prestigious studios in the sector such as the BBC, Guardian, Rewind, Tate Museum, ARTE and many more. From a spacewalk, to visiting the studio of the painter Modigliani, Immersive Arcade offers authentic exceptional pieces such as the Emmy award-winning Notes on Blindness: into darkness that leads us through the process of slowly going blind as narator takes us through the visualization of a soundscape in the form of waves and blue flashes.
We will also discover the latest trends about the integration of augmented reality and interactive narratives in the field of television from the winner of the Emmy and BAFTA Awards, the creative director of Nexus Studio, Kim-Leigh Pontin.
As Creative Director at Nexus Interactive Arts, Kim-Leigh specialises in directing interactive volumetric capture experiences, as well as interactive narrative design for emerging tech. Kim-Leigh’s background is in XR, interactive TV, emerging technology interaction design, and interactive storytelling. Kim-Leigh brings ideas of embodied interaction and speculative design to the world of television production and product design. Prior to joining Nexus Studios she worked at Sky VR Studios, the BBC, Amazon and Apple. Kim-Leigh studied Design Interactions at the Royal College of Art and has won a BAFTA, Emmy & D&AD for interactive TV work, and three VR pieces that Kim-Leigh directed were recently shown at the Venice Film Festival (2017, 18 & 19).
