Each session will include a conversation with the other members of the audience facilitated by teachers from the British Council of Bilbao.
30 October: The Sound Trilogy
This year’s programme starts with an appealing session about the latest musical tendencies in London, Manchester and Glasgow, exploring how cities shape the influences and creative processes of musicians and artists. You can’t miss it! Brought to you by the British Council and Boiler Room.
27 November: Leonora Carrington: The Lost Surrealist
A journey into the darkly strange and cinematic world of British surrealist Leonora Carrington. Her dramatic evolution from British debutante to artist in exile, living out her days in Mexico City. In conjunction with the British Council's partnership with the Grierson Trust.
29 January: Paula Rego: Secrets and Stories
A unique insight into the life and work of celebrated Portuguese painter Paula Rego. Notoriously private and guarded, she talks about her life battling fascism and a misogynistic art world among other things, in this film directed by her son Nick Willing. In conjunction with the British Council's partnership with the Grierson Trust.
26 February: Out There
This session explores how the lives of men and women in different communities across the globe have been impacted by their sexuality. Stephen Fry meets people working hard to improve the rights of LGTB communities from Africa to America, Asia or Russia. Brought to you by the British Council and the Grierson Trust.
