The British Council has supported the production of a film version of Sarah Frankcom’s critically acclaimed stage production of Hamlet, which enjoyed a sell-out run at the Manchester Royal Exchange in the UK in 2014.

Shakespeare’s most iconic work explodes with big ideas and is the ultimate story of loyalty, love, betrayal, murder and madness. From its ground-breaking,sell-out run at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre comes a film version of this unique and critically acclaimed production of Hamlet, with BAFTA nominee Maxine Peake in the title role. Shot creatively with eight cameras ‘in the round’ Hamlet captures the spirit of the play to create a visceral and cinematic experience.
