The British Council and the Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España are pleased to present More Films for Freedom, a series of six shorts commissioned by the British Council in collaboration with the BFI Network which showcase the stories of the LGBTQI+ community.
The series was born in 2019 building on the success of Five Films for Freedom, our online LGBTQI+ Film programme which is screened annually during the BFI Flare: London LGBTQI+ Film Festival days. Up until now, the programme has reached over 14 million views across 202 countries and principalities since its creation in 2015.
The movies that form More Films for Freedom have been created by UK teams in collaboration with Palestinian, South African, Syrian, Nigerian and Libyan filmmakers. Together, they showcase these distinctive filmmaking voices and explore topics as diverse as gender, sexuality and conflict, inter-generational gay culture, migration and family ties.
Don’t miss out on the chance to view these shorts that celebrate the diversity within the LGBTQI+ community and support love as a human right. Join us at the Academia de Cine on July 18th at 19:00 hs.
