Don’t miss a staged reading of Terry Johnson’s works on Monday 18th November at 7 pm.
ONE NIGHT ONLY!

The multi-award winning playwright, screenwriter and stage director Terry Johnson will be visiting Madrid as the guest of honour of Play & Breakfast, a programme of month-long monographic workshops offering arts professionals and theatre enthusiasts the opportunity to learn more in detail about the latest tendencies in British drama, organized in Madrid by Bella Batalla, Esto Podría Ser and the Teatro de la Abadía in collaboration with the British Council / New UK Drama.
The second workshop of the season has been focused on works by Terry Johnson, one of the most prominent figures of British theatre, whose delirious comedies began reaping huge success among critics and audiences alike in the 90s. The workshop will culminate in a staged reading in Spanish of extracts from two of Terry Johnson’s most successful and representative plays, Insignficance (1982) and Hysteria (1993) in which Johnson masterfully combines farce and black humour to portray such profound or delicate subjects as life and death or love and loss. The reading will be followed by a Q&A with the playwright in which he’ll be discussing the vision and motivation behind his works, leading into a dialogue with the audience.
