Thanks to their commitment to artists' mobility for cultural exchange, San Sebastián’s Tabakalera, International Centre of Contemporary Culture San Sebastián, has joined efforts with the Scottish institutions Hospitalfield (Arbroath) and CCA (Glasgow) to launch an exchange residency for artists. The programme is supported by the Etxepare Euskal Institutua and the British Council.
This initiative will allow one artist from each region to spend a month in every institution in the partnering country, covering transportation and housing fees, among others. The Scottish institutions will host the Basque artist this September in Hospitalfield and October at CCA. Tabakalera will host its counterpart throughout November.
With this project, each artist will be able to form part of their host institution’s creative community while they develop their artistic practice, taking advantage of the facilities at their disposal and soaking up the local culture. The application deadline is April 20th, 2023, at 5 pm (GMT1+) for Scotland-based artists and May 2nd, 2023 at 12:00 noon (CET) for artists residing in the Basque region.
