On 16-17 January, the British Council in Spain and the BFI (British Film Institute) will present the second edition of Future Screens, their two-day feature screenwriting lab aimed at emerging talent and future industry leaders.

This year, they have partnered with Tabakalera - Centro Internacional de Cultura Contemporánea in San Sebastián with the support of the British Embassy in Spain.

As part of  the programme for Future Screens Film Lab: From Short to Feature, on 17 January at 19:00 hs they will be screening Femme, a film by Sam H. Freeman and Ng CHoon Ping. Jules, its main character, is the victim of a homophobic attack that destroys his career as drag queen and affects his life at all levels. One day, he visits a gay sauna and encounters his aggressor, Preston, who keeps his sexual orientation hidden. An opportunity for revenge arises. Unrecongisable without his wig or make up, Jules begins to infiltrate Preston's life, leading to a dangerous seduction.

Femme was created in 2021 as a short film and, shortly after, won the 2021 BIFA award for Best British Short and was nominated to the 2022 BAFTA under the same category, among other accolades. In 2023, it took the leap from short to feature and rose to fame with three BIFA awards for Best Joint Lead Performance, Best Costume Design and Best Makeup & Hair Design.

The screening will be open to the general public at Tabakalera's sala Zinea, followed by a Q&A session with its producer, Hayley Williams, moderated by British filmmaker Samm Haillay
