Dive into the music this month with a concert by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with violinist Esther Yoo, directed by Vasily Petrenko, during Ibermúsica’s musical season. Teh show will take place on April 19th at 19:30hs in the Auditorio Nacional de Música with a programme by Sibelus, Bruch and Prokófiev.
The show will begin with the piece titled Finland, a symphonic poem by Finnish composer Sibelius. The piece alludes to the oppression suffered by the Finnish peoples at the end of the 19th Century and was composed to protest the censorship that Russia was enforcing against the Nordic country at the time.
The second part will be dedicated to the “Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor” by Max Bruch, released in 1866. This is considered one of the four great concertos of the 19th Century, along with those composed by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Brahms.
The night will end with an interpretation of the famous “Romeo and Juliet”, composed by legendary Ukrainian composer, Prokófiev.
The British Council is holding a draw for 2 invitations to attend this concert. We invite you to join the draw before April 16th at 23:59 (CET). We will contact the winner on April 17th.
On Thursday, April 20th, the orchestra will offer another concert with a programme by Dvořák y Chaikovski. For more information, you may acces Ibermúsica’s webpage.
