As part of its program We Are Equals, promoting gender equality in the music industry, the British Council is partnering She Makes Noise festival organized by Casa Encendida.  From electronic music conceived as a piece of musical haute couture with influences of R & B, Gospel Drone and Disney musicals from Klein, to experimental music composer Beatrice Dillon and the powerful DJ set of the great Jamz Supernova, who is visiting  Madrid for the first time, having set fire to the dance floors of Sónar this year, enjoy these three top-level artists based in the United Kingdom:

Jamz Supernova

The bounce was born from Hip Hop in the southern United States and now reinvents itself in the suburbs of London with Jamz Supernova, a very young dj and musical producer -with Jamaican and Cuban roots-, who in a short time has become a reference point. She went from hosting her own space in the London radio station Reprazent to the prestigious Radio 1Xtra of the BBC. Supernova dominates the whole spectrum of bounce sound and contemporary beats, from the kuduro to the future R & B, through Dancehall, South African gqom, Jersey Club or Bass house, without forgetting Trap and Hip Hop.In 2016, she launched FLEXX, along with her friend Amy Collins, to connect women who work in the music industry. She played in the last edition of Sónar and now she is coming to Madrid for the first time to make us dance.

You can get an idea of the strength of her dj set in this live show for Boiler Room or for Sónar

Jamz Supernova is part of the Keychange project with PRS Foundation and BIME – in partnership with the British Council.

Klein

Klein is on of the recent big artists signed by the prestigious Hyperdub label. Last year she released her album Tommy, a chaotic, dark and emotional album, in which Klein seems to combine incompatible music and styles a priori but in her hands they become a postmodern opera. R & B, gospel drone, Disney musicals and a clear influence of concrete and industrial music, make this artist one of the most interesting of the British underground. For her performances, she combines Internet collages with the imaginary of her Nigerian ancestors. Only a few months ago she released the EP cc, where she delves into that dark sadness that Tommy already marked but in which the rhythmic and startling rhythms of her voice transport us to moments of great emotional intensity. In all her performances, there is a certain ambiguity. We go back to childhood with its lights and shadows, mysterious moments, fictions, synth and analog sounds. She combines and makes musical twists with strangely beautiful mixes, ranging from rock to house music, always giving rise to unique performances. This is Klein's first time in Spain after having done the Unsound, the ICA London and a macro tour that during the year 2018 has taken her to Japan and Australia.

Beatrice Dillon

The respected producer and composer of experimental music based in London, Beatrice Dillon, visits Madrid for the first time as well with a live show in which she will share her characteristic rhythmic and fractured techno with influences from electroacoustic jazz and deep dub. Her latest album Pulse / High (2017) in collaboration with Kassem Mosse has received great reviews in the most outstanding music publications of her country, confirming herself as one of the most exciting and risky presences of the global electronic scene. She has given concerts, sets and performances at the last Berlin Atonal, Café Oto in London, the lais de Tokyo in Paris, Tabakalera in San Sebastián or the Mutek in its editions of Montreal and Barcelona. On top of which she is a resident artist at London's Somerset Studio.
