Witness the return of The Sleeping Beauty to the Royal Opera House's stage, a symbolic piece for this emblematic British institution. In 1946, it marked the reopening of Covent Garden by becoming the company´s first representation after the Second World War. Since its new production in 2006, choreographed by Frederick Ashton, this classic ballet has not ceased to delight its spectators reminiscing on the works of Marius Petipa, its original 19th century choreographer.
Dive into princess Aurora’s story with this lesson in the atmospheric art and craft of choreography. Inspired by Petipa’s Classicism, it is accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s marvellous music and Oliver Messel’s sensational designs.
