Cartoons in the Classroom - Talks for Teachers
Date
Monday 16 March 2015 -
18:30 to 20:00
Location
British Council Main Office. Madrid

This session is a practical workshop, in which participants carry out a number of interactive tasks involving short cartoon clips and other authentic videos aimed at native speakers. There are ideas for working on each of the four skill areas (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking), as well as grammar and vocabulary activities. Whilst participants are shown activities that focus on specific language points, all the tasks can be adapted, and further suggestions are given and can be discussed.

Jan has nine years of experience teaching English – in China, Vietnam, Japan and Spain. She has the Trinity Diploma in TESOL, for which she undertook research into learner autonomy. Over the last year, she was Academic Coordinator for the Junior Department at British Council Madrid Young Learners teaching centre: this year, she is a Coordinator at an offsite school for MYL. Jan is especially interested in resource development, and in creating activities based on authentic materials – in particular using videos and novels.
